Inverted Mesas

 
XECO Inc. is a US corporation that designs and manufactures high frequency crystal blanks and inverted mesa plated crystal blanks.  These products are supplied worldwide to crystal oscillator, filter, and sensor manufacturers, who then supply to a wide range of markets including Automotive, Telecom, Internet infrastructure, storage, wireless communications, digital cable and HDTV.

The Inverted Mesa Process

Inverted Mesa crystal blanks start from swept, pure Z growth quartz polished wafers using XECO's proprietary processes which produce highly consistent blanks, with tightly controlled frequency and flatness. Mesa surface finishes are fully polished by a chemical milling process which result in a clean transition edge and smooth mesa area for low defect, high performance crystal operation.  

XECO Plated blanks offer unique processing advantages to achieve uniform metal thickness and exceptional electrode alignment, yielding excellent uniformity of crystal motional parameters. Metal options include:

• Chrome-gold electrodes and flags (contacts)

• 100% Aluminum

• 100% Aluminum electrodes with Chrome-gold flags (contacts)

Standard electrodes are round in shape and vary in size from 5mils to 50 mils (0.125 to 1.25mm),  some sizes for specific styles may have special order conditions.

XECO also supplies to many custom requirements, whether special electrode shapes to maximize best ESR , best in spur performance for filters, or emerging needs for filter and sensor applications.  Essentially we are and will be pleased to support your specialized needs. 

New advances in manufacturing and test allow us to  supply higher frequency products with excellent characteristics and tolerances, improve overall quality of mainstream products, and to meet new and emerging requirements for precision or high accuracy oscillator, filter, and sensor applications.

XECO automation assures consistent products at favorable yields and costs.  The smaller area blanks are lower in cost and therefore should be considered first for your applications.
